Planning for Reception is based around 7 areas of learning, Personal, Social and Emotional, Physical, Communication and Language, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the world and Expressive Arts and Design. We follow a child initiated approach to learning, following the children's' interests. Each week children will be chosen as focus children and will be given an 'all about me' task to complete at home. This is a great way for you to share any new interests your child may have.

Alongside Continuous Provision, the children will take part in Song of Sounds, our chosen Phonics programme, a short Maths session and a Literacy based activity every day. We will also be teaching Jigsaw weekly.

Reception will also be working alongside the Nursery children two times a week during ‘free flow’. This allows the children from the whole unit to work, socialise and mix together.

Homework -  It is important that you read with your child every night and sign their reading records.

P.E. - This term, Mrs Robson's class is on Monday, Miss Taylor's class is on Tuesday and Miss Pugh's class is on Thursday. Please could P.E. kits stay in school all week and be taken home on a Friday.

If you have any queries please see Mrs. Robson, Miss. Hoodless, Miss. Pugh, Mrs. Cruickshank, Miss. Farr and Miss. Taylor and we will be pleased to help!
