Modern Foreign Languages at Our School – Spanish
At Pennine Way Primary School, we are proud to teach Spanish as part of our Modern Foreign Languages curriculum. Learning a new language helps children build confidence, develop communication skills, and gain an appreciation of different cultures.
Our Spanish lessons are fun, engaging and interactive, using songs, stories, games and conversations to make learning enjoyable. Children develop their listening, speaking, reading and simple writing skills, building a strong foundation for future learning in Key Stage 3 and beyond.
Throughout the year, we also celebrate languages and cultures across the world, including National Mother Language Day, where children learn about other countries, their languages and even taste some of their traditional foods!
By the end of Key Stage 2, children will:
-
Feel confident speaking and listening in Spanish.
-
Understand key vocabulary and simple sentence structures.
-
Recognise the importance of grammar, such as gender and word order.
-
Appreciate and celebrate different languages and cultures.
Our aim is for pupils to leave Pennine Way as curious, confident and respectful global citizens, ready to continue their language learning journey in secondary school.
